My paintings are spirals, giving the impression of rotation, and I would like to interpret this as a metaphor for return. A spiral is a symbol of cyclicality and repetitive movements that endlessly unwind, creating new layers. It is as if you are trying to break the vicious circle and get out of it, but the way out always leads back into the same circle. The repetitiveness and versatility of the ornament creates a sense of the continuity of history, a sense of immortality.
